Family events
Every few Minecraft days (3 to 5 by default), something happens to your house. Some events need a choice: any member can answer with the buttons in chat, and the first answer counts.
The events
| Event | What happens | Your choices |
|---|---|---|
| Sickness | A family member is weak and always hungry. | None: eat a golden apple to cure them (+4 renown). |
| A rival house | An NPC house declares a feud on yours. | Accept the challenge: their champion hunts you at night; defeating it gives 8 emeralds, 4 levels and 4 renown. Or pay 8 emeralds in tribute and lose 3 renown. |
| A wedding proposal | A village family offers a match. | Accept for 5 emeralds: the next children of that branch are each born with an extra boon. Or decline. |
| A long-lost cousin | A cousin arrives with an old family heirloom. | Welcome them and receive the heirloom, or send them away. |
| The restless dead | An ancestor's spirit cannot rest. | None: defeat the shade that walks their grave at night (+4 renown, 5 levels). |

How events work
- Choices open as a parchment scroll on your screen, with a button for each answer, and also appear in chat. Closed the scroll by accident? The choice is still in chat and in the Chronicle.
- A choice waits for 2 days. An unanswered feud counts as accepted, and so does choosing tribute without the 8 emeralds: only paying avoids the fight. An unanswered proposal or cousin simply leaves.
- Only one event happens at a time: the next one waits until the house has dealt with the current one.
- A new house has 7 days of peace before any feud or restless spirit.
- Enemies that come to you (rival champions, shades, inn bounties and the heirloom thief) grow with your house. Under 15 renown they are much weaker (40% health, no bodyguards, stone and leather gear); at 15, 45 and 100 renown they get stronger, up to 150% health, an extra bodyguard and diamond gear. Oath champions are always at full strength.
- Server owners can change all of this, or turn events off.
